A continent of extraordinary industrial ambition. A profession that deserves a world-class society. ASMRA exists to close that gap — permanently.
ASMRA™ is the African Society for Maintenance, Reliability and Asset Management — a professional body built from within Africa, for Africa’s industrial professionals.
Our name is a statement of intent. We do not exist to issue certificates or host events. We exist to raise the standard of practice, elevate the profession, and build a community that holds competence — not completion — as the measure of a professional.
To advance the practice, professionalism, and recognition of maintenance, reliability and asset management across Africa — by connecting practitioners, building knowledge, and establishing the professional standards our continent deserves.
“We pursue this mission by building a unified community of practitioners, providing access to world-class knowledge and certification pathways, and making the strategic case for our profession in every industry sector on the continent.”
A continent where every industrial asset reaches its full potential — through the expertise of world-class African professionals who are globally recognised, equipped with the finest knowledge, and driving measurable competitive advantage for the organisations and economies they serve.
“The answers to Africa’s industrial challenges will come from within Africa. ASMRA exists to ensure the professionals who hold those answers are heard, equipped, and celebrated.”
Four principles that guide every decision we make — from the content we publish to the partnerships we form and the certifications we endorse.
We uphold the highest standards in everything we do. Competence is not a baseline — it is the ceiling we continually raise. Every resource, event, and certification we endorse must meet the standard our members expect and our continent deserves.
The most durable progress comes when practitioners share knowledge freely across borders, industries, and generations. Community is our greatest strategic asset — and the reason ASMRA exists as a society, not just a platform.
We celebrate African voices, African solutions, and African leadership in our global profession. The answers to Africa’s industrial challenges will come from within Africa — and ASMRA amplifies those voices on the world stage.
Every programme, publication, and partnership we build translates to tangible professional and organisational value for our members and the industries they serve. Impact is our measure of success — not activity.
ASMRA did not begin with a website or a conference. It began with a conviction — that Africa’s industrial professionals, working in oil and gas fields, power plants, manufacturing facilities, and mines across 54 countries, deserved a professional home of their own.
That conviction was forged on the floor of Nigerian refineries and petrochemical plants — in conversations between engineers who had the expertise but not the platform, practitioners who were solving world-class problems without world-class recognition.
Through the Maintenance Institute Africa, Africa’s first dedicated MRA training and events organisation, the ecosystem was built — 9 summits, 3,300+ practitioners trained, 22+ countries represented. ASMRA is the professional society that now provides the institutional structure and community that ecosystem deserves.
We are building something that will outlast any single programme or event — a professional society that serves Africa’s MRA community for generations.
ASMRA was built from within Africa’s most established MRA ecosystem.
TMI Africa is the operational backbone behind ASMRA — Africa’s leading maintenance and reliability training and events organisation, established in Port Harcourt in 2015. With 9 summits, 3,300+ professionals trained, and a presence across 22 African countries, TMI Africa has spent a decade building the ecosystem that ASMRA now serves as the professional society.
The relationship between ASMRA and TMI Africa means members benefit from the full depth of TMI Africa’s training expertise, event infrastructure, and continental network — while being part of a formal professional society with independent governance, membership standards, and credentialing authority.
